Matthew E. Zekala

With 20 years of business experience prior to law school, Matthew Zekala brings a breadth of professional and “real-world” experience to his practice. During the 1990s Matthew was based in New York City where he provided consulting services to major U.S. corporations seeking to develop interests in Europe. After relocating to Portland in 1998 he managed significant industrial, commercial, and residential properties for a local business conglomerate. Matthew also spent eight years with a legal service provider specializing in multi-million-dollar environmental insurance settlements for Fortune 500 policyholders. During law school, he gained valuable experience working as a law clerk for a boutique white-collar defense firm. Before joining Ungar Law Office, Matthew practiced with a prominent litigation firm in Portland where he was tasked with reviewing materials and providing technical advice relating to a fatal aircraft accident in a foreign country. Between 2014 and 2015, he served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice in defense of the Governor of Oregon in a large class action lawsuit. Matthew is also an avid cyclist and former professional musician.
